Statement of Candidacy

Despite never having attended accounting school, I discovered a natural affinity for numbers through various jobs through high school forward. This aptitude led me to work in the accounting division of a prominent theme park in East, TN, from 1991 until 2006. Subsequently, I co-founded a salon and massage establishment in 2007. In 2008 I was elected TN Chapter treasurer for the American Massage Therapy Association, being re-elected and serving for eight – ten years.

As life progressed, my partner and I relocated to Middle, TN, where I continued to provide massage therapy part-time. I joined Mind Body Institute, LLC in December 2015, overseeing the financial aid department. While managing my part-time massage business, I enthusiastically took on the FAA role, seeking out training opportunities. I joined TASFAA in 2016 and participated in the annual training conferences. In 2019, I volunteered with TASFAA to be a moderator and later serviced as the Proprietary School Rep on the board until taking a break as I also serve as the treasurer with the Tennessee Massage Therapy Association. Throughout my career, I have pursued extensive training in both massage therapy and financial aid as I recognize the dynamic nature of the forever changing world of a financial aid administrator.
